Reducing involuntary standing time

It is important that the amount of time cows are required to stand is kept to a minimum so that their opportunity to lie down is not restricted. This can be done in a number of ways, optimising the time at which cows feed and enabling them to lie when they require is ideal. At certain times such as in the collecting yard or in holding pens awaiting treatment this is not always possible. In these circumstances standing times should be kept to a minimum
