Scraping

Tractor Scraping

  • Box Scrapers are excellent and leave less smearing than other varieties of scraper (most people with box scrapers would not change back!)
  • Take care to scrape slowly and methodically to avoid leaving slurry around edges of yards and feeders

Auto Scraping

  • Avoid long scraper runs to prevent a large bow wave of slurry building up.
  • Add slatted sections to reduce depth of bow wave

Hand Scraping

  • Use a hand scraper to remove stale slurry from corners, edges, ends of auto scraper runs etc. to reduce the risk of infectious disease
  • Use a hand scraper on areas not reached by tractor or auto scraper e.g. cross passages.
  • Hand scrape areas of high use and slurry build up in between the main scrapings e.g. parlour exit or around out of parlour feeders
