Dairy Cattle Lameness Student Residential Course 2009

The Healthy Feet Project is a large research project aimed at helping the industry to reduce lameness in dairy cattle. As well as visiting over 200 farms each year to collect data we also working to raise the awareness of lameness amongst other people working in the industry. So last year we ran this student course for the first time. We were joined at Langford by 15 students from 7 different universities, studying 7 different agriculture or veterinary related courses. The Healthy Feet Project team enjoyed the experience immensely and we think the students did too. If you don’t believe us here’s what some of last years students wrote about the course.

“Brilliantly run, busy and great timetable. Staff were extremely helpful & friendly. Really well put together.”

“I had a really good time. Really relaxed learning environment made it easy to ask questions and discuss everything. It was a good mix between learning and practical application”

“An extremely fun and educational trip. Highly recommended for vet students, animal scientists and agriculture students alike.”

“I really like the mixture of agriculture and vet students allowing each person to teach what they know most about to the other group.”

The next residential course will be held in the summer of 2011. Details to be announced.
