Foot diseases, mainly sole ulcers and interdigital hyperplasia, affected 21% of 157 dairy cows and heifers in a housed herd in Albania. Low zinc values were found in their feed and also in the blood serum of affected animals. The addition of zinc sulfate to their diet (5.3 g/animal daily) increased blood zinc values and prevented foot diseases
