Risk Assessment

The key areas of management and environment to assess are:

  1. Infection pressure  i.e. slurry management, foot hygiene and numbers of cows with active infections spreading to others
  2. Forces on feet i.e. standing times, cow flow, under-foot surfaces
  3. Claw horn quality i.e. foot shape and nutritional factors which could influence rates of growth and claw horn robustness
  4. Early detection and early, effective treatment
