Digital dermatitis was diagnosed for the first time in Slovenia in spring, 1992, on 2 dairy farms; at the same time it was diagnosed on a diary farm in Croatia near the Slovenian border. The histological changes were similar to those reported for bovine papillomavirus infection. No specific bacteria were detected
